<brain>stickers® Affirmations - Free to Olympians
Online company offers Olympians free motivational stickers
Santa Monica -December 1, 2007 -- In an effort to show that affirmations are empowering, inspiring, as well as, performance enhancing, < brain >stickers®com, Eyes and Ears Foundation with contributions from eta, inc.,
, is offering their unique affirmational window clings, free to bona fide, Olympians from all countries . Hundreds have been sent to Olympians over the past ten years for both summer and winter Olympiads.
The company's CEO, Ed Thomas, conceived < brain >stickers® eleven years ago. At the time, Mr. Thomas was experiencing a need for more positive self-communication; and finding affirmations beneficial, he decided to produce an affirmative product to share with others.
"One day, after seeing several obnoxious bumper stickers that said things like, "When they come for your guns, give 'em the bullets first!" or "Pry my gun from my cold dead fingers!" that old Andrews Sisters song, "Ac'cent-u-ate the positive, e-lim-in-ate the negative, and latch on to the affirmative," went off in my head." "I thought, with all the time we spend in our cars, isolating, raging, stuck in traffic, and just bummed, what better time to see and tell yourself something positive." "The thought of an affirmation sticker came while seeing an oil change reminder; aware, but unseen by the conscious mind." "So, a-ha!" "<brain>stickers® were born!"
In 1996, Mr. Thomas decided to give <brain>stickers® to Olympians to assist and inspire athletes with something that worked for him. When Olympians from any country visit the <brain>stickers® web site, they can choose from eight free affirmations including,
"I SEE MYSELF WINNING," "I AM GOOD BECAUSE I PRACTICE," and "I AM A WINNER."
Three sizes of a <brain>stickers® affirmation are imprinted on a static cling vinyl card and designed to be placed strategically within one's surroundings, i.e., on bathroom mirrors, office windows, computer monitors, and windshields (at the top in the tinted area). The stickers have an "etched glass" effect and appear almost invisible in low light. Their subtle design is intended to have a positive subliminal effect on the subconscious, and counter the negative messages the average person internalizes from day-to-day. Psychologists estimate that 72% of a normal adult's self talk is negative or self-critical.
Susie M. Phillips was one site visitor who felt the site was encouraging. "Thank-you for this uplifting web site. I am building myself up due to a not so perfect childhood, and I say many different affirmations to myself all day long. Affirmations really do make a difference - if you are willing to do the work," said Ms. Phillips.
<brain>stickers® are available online through an ongoing "buy-one-get-one-free" promotion. Web site visitors have the option of buying one card with three sizes (small, medium, large) of each <brain>stickers® affirmation and receiving a second card free plus $1.50 for postage, and handling. All additional <brain>stickers® purchased are $2.50 per card.
< brain >stickers®com, eta, inc., was founded in 1995, by Ed Thomas, Maxine Thomas and Darren Newman. Today, there are 24 positive, <brain>stickers®, affirmations immediately available. The company is developing new product lines and spiritual < <brain>stickers® affirmations based upon the thousands of suggestions submitted by visitors to the Web site.
"You can't buy that mopey friend a positive mental attitude, but you can order the next best thing:
<brain>stickers®." "These clear vinyl strips with faux etched-glass letters cling to windows, mirrors or computer screens, where they blend into scenery while their messages remind the subconscious to keep its chin up." "Potentially life-altering..." CIO -The Magazine For Information Executives, 12/96
